Option 3A: Catholic Christianity

According to Hebrews 1:1-4, what does the Son show about God's own nature?

Answer

That he is the reflection of God's glory and the exact imprint of God's very being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. He is described as far above the angels.

Why

'Exact imprint' is the language of a seal pressed into wax. Catholics take it to mean that what is seen in Christ is not a copy or a messenger's version but God's own character.

Option 1C: Islam

What does Surah 2:136 say about the prophets?

Answer

That Muslims believe in what was revealed to Ibrahim, Isma'il, Musa, Isa and the rest, and that they make no distinction between any of them.

Why

The verse explains why insulting any prophet is unacceptable to Muslims. It also means Muslims regard figures honoured by Jews and Christians as prophets of the same one God.

Option 1A: Catholic Christianity

Why does a parish treat supporting families as part of its mission?

Answer

Because Catholic teaching says parents are the first to hand on the faith to their children, and the parish exists to help them to do it.

Why

The Catechism (2226) teaches that education in the faith by parents should begin in a child's earliest years, and that the parish community supports this work.
