We collect the minimum we need, store it in the UK, never sell it, and never use it to train AI models.
01Plain-English summary
BrainBerry is built for GCSE & A-Level students. We take your data seriously.
Short version: we store only what we need to run the app, we never sell it, your notes and decks are never used to train AI models, and you can export or delete everything any time.
02What we collect
Account: your email, name, year group, and exam board (so we tune content to your spec).
Activity: the cards you study, your answers, your streaks and coins — used to show you your own progress and to build aggregate (non-identifiable) product analytics.
Device: standard logs (browser, IP, time of request) for security and abuse prevention. We retain logs for 30 days.
03What we do with it
Run BrainBerry — sync your decks across devices, show your progress, run Class Mode games.
Improve BrainBerry — anonymous, aggregated patterns help us decide what to build next.
Contact you — only about the launch and major product updates. You can opt out of every email except security notices.
04What we never do
We never sell your data. Full stop.
We never use your notes, decks or answers to train AI models — yours or any third party's.
We never sell your personal data to advertisers, and we never share your notes, decks, answers or study activity with them.
We never share your data with anyone without your explicit consent.
05Advertising
BrainBerry Premium is ad-free. The free tier may show occasional ads to help cover the cost of running the app.
Ads are served by Google. We don't send Google your notes, decks, answers or anything you study, and advertisers never receive your personal data from us.
When an ad loads, Google may set its own cookies on your device and process data under its own privacy policy. If you're on Premium — or on the free tier and haven't been shown an ad — no ad code runs on your device and no ad cookies are set.
06Where it lives
All BrainBerry data is stored on UK servers, encrypted in transit and at rest.
07Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can: access your data, correct it, export it (Settings → Export), delete your account and all associated data (Settings → Delete), or restrict processing.
We respond to data requests within 30 days. Email privacy@brainberry.io with any question.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
08Children
BrainBerry is intended for users aged 13 and over. If you're under 13 we ask you not to create an account; if you do and we find out, we delete it.
If you're a parent or guardian and want a child's account removed, email privacy@brainberry.io and we'll do it within 7 days.
09Cookies
We use a minimum of strictly-necessary cookies (session, security, preference). We don't use third-party trackers on our marketing site beyond a privacy-respecting analytics tool that doesn't set cookies. Where the free tier shows an ad, Google may set advertising cookies on your device — see Advertising above.
10Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way we'll email registered users at least 30 days in advance.
