What sound does the letter z make in German, as in Zeit?
It is always ts, the sound at the end of English 'cats'. Zeit begins 'tsight'.
German z is never the buzzing z of English 'zoo'; that sound is written s at the start of a word or between two vowels. Zimmer, zwölf and zusammen all begin with ts.
Name the four seasons in German.
Frühling (spring), Sommer (summer), Herbst (autumn), Winter (winter).
Frühling needs its u-umlaut. All four are masculine, so they take der: der Sommer, der Winter.
